The famous Jungfrau Railway in Switzerland has selected Tissot as its exclusive watch partner for its centenary in 2012. As the company's trains climb up to Europe's highest-altitude railway station at 3,454 metres above sea level, timing and precision engineering is the main key. In the Jungfrau Railway, Tissot has found the ideal partner. Expressing the partnership are two Tissot countdown clocks in the Jungfrau Region, on the Jungfraujoch–Top of Europe and Kleine Scheidegg, to count the days to the zero hour on 1 August 2012 that marks the 100th birthday of the Jungfrau Railway.
A matching partnership
A parallel between both partners is quickly found: The Jungfrau Region as well as Tissot’s hometown Le Locle are both part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Despite its eternal snow and icy temperatures, the Jungfraujoch–Top of Europe is a veritable melting pot in tourism terms. Visitors of all nationalities make the breathtaking trip to the highest European railway station each year. In 2010, 672,000 passengers completed this adventure.
Innovators by tradition
Today's collaboration between Tissot and the Jungfrau Railway incorporates strong common values with extremely deep roots. Tissot is known the world over for a spirit of innovation that has always characterised the brand and enabled it to succeed in the most challenging climates. Similarly, the pioneers behind this mountain railway fought with daunting topography and weather conditions. Today the Jungfraujoch–Top of Europe is a unique masterpiece in the world of excursions. Fortunately, neither company has ever lost sight of its commitment to innovation and its dedication to remaining at the very top.
