Danica Patrick

The first woman to win a race in the IndyCar Series.

Born in 1982 in Beloit, Wisconsin and brought up in Illinois, Danica Patrick started her career by going go-karting in Wisconsin when she was 10.

After systematic steps through more demanding categories, in 2005, she went to the IndyCar Formula and demonstrated speed and high capabilities right from the start in the highest American racing car class. At the prestigious Indianapolis 500-mile race that same year, she came a sensational fourth. That race went down in history as she became the first woman ever to lead a lap of the Indy 500.

In 2009 she beat her personal record by reaching the third position in the Indianapolis 500, also representing the best finish ever achieved by a woman in the race.

The following year, she started to race in the NASCAR Nationwide series part-time, where, in one of the top-circuits at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, she beat the times of every woman who had raced before her. This encouraged her and she was now determined to invest herself in the NASCAR races announcing in 2011 that she would no longer participate in the IndyCar Series in 2012, but rather, will be driving stock cars in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, moving to the top level Sprint Cup in 2013.

It will, without a doubt, be a very exciting year for our driver. She has beaten many records over the years and will continue to strive in her new NASCAR challenge next season.
